Participate in Community Forum on the Roles of Elected Officials

Lost Rivers Leadership Academy Presents: Understanding the Roles of Local Elected Officials, Wednesday, May 12, 2010, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Mackay High School Auditorium.

County Commissioners, Assessor, Clerk, Treasurer, Sheriff; City Mayor and Councilpersons: As citizens you are tasked with electing local officials to represent you and conduct the business of running our Counties and Cities, but do you really understand exactly what those positions entail? This is your opportunity to educate yourself.

Lost Rivers Economic Development, Inc. (LRED) and Custer Economic Development Association (CEDA) are co-sponsoring this open community forum for the residents of Butte and Custer Counties. The purpose of the forum is to help the general public better understand what the job responsibilities are for their local elected officials. It is hard to be an educated voter when you are not completely certain what the candidates will be expected to do once their elected. It’s a bit like trying to hire a skilled employee for a position when you have never seen the job description.

Dan Chadwick, Executive Director of the Idaho Association of Counties (IAC) will facilitate the forum. Dan is a very energizing speaker who does an excellent job of explaining the complexities of government in layman’s terms.

Participation in the democratic process at the local level is vital to the economic success of communities. Get involved and find out more – attend the Understanding the Roles of Local Elected Officials forum on May 12th!
