4TH OF JULY Community FESTIVITIES "Home of the Free Because of the Brave"

By:   Melinda Shodin & Rose Bernal

We are excited & ever so proud to announce that this year your communities' 4th of July family events are a result of the Partnering of your very own Butte County Troop Boosters,  your Butte County Chamber of Commerce & Local Volunteer Firefighters!   Help us celebrate our freedom remembering our loved & cherished ones by entering your float/vehicle or by coming downtown to view the parade & donating to the Fireworks display which is completely community funded!

Grab your coconuts, grass skirts, & Hawaiian shirts from the back of your closets & meet us at 11am on Main Street in downtown Arco!  The Chamber will be hosting its 2nd Annual Luau immediately following Parade! Our communities yearly parade is proudly brought to you by our valleys very own Troop Boosters!  The Parade is headed up by Rose Bernal 208-899-1747. Rose Bernal is the proud wife of one of our valleys many war veterans, Mondo Bernal!  The Parade theme is "Home of the Free Because of the Brave" you are asked to decorate your vehicle in honor & memory of your favorite veteran.  Currently a $40 gas gift Certificate donated by the Bargain Barn will be given to the winner; a $20 gas certificate for the 2nd runner up is donated by Absolute Therapy Massage. Winners will be announced during the LUAU festivities at the Park; both Donors are proud members of the Butte County Chamber of Commerce.  The votes will be based purely upon crowd response so please bring all your family & friends out to help you win by voting for your entry.
Last year's Luau, complete with authentic Hawaiian music, was a huge hit with a wonderful attendance which far surpassed its projected attendance due to it being a pre-paid catered event & also for it being its first time out.  The Butte County Chamber had around 75-100 people turnout for last years hosted event & those in attendance had a wonderful time!  Orders for this year's meal can be purchased & ordered at ATC Communications or the Bargain Barn for your ease, offering special pricing for Seniors & Children. The menu is:
Entre choices:  (choose 1) Teriyaki Beef or Chicken, Hawaiian pulled Pork,  Falls brand Tavern Ham with pineapple, plain or grilled.
Sides- (you get both):  Luau Rice, Corn on the cob.
Desert: (choose 1) Pineapple rice, or Pineapple upside-down cake.
Drinks:  (choose 1) Lemonade, Iced Tea, or Water.
This meal is brought to you by the same people who catered it last year J&C Catering out of Kimberly ID, Jerry & Cheryl are also local property owners here in the valley & they even donate back a portion of the proceeds of this event to Butte County Chamber of Commerce.      New for this year, we are excited to announce that you can purchase your favorite non-alcoholic ice cold favorite Hawaiian beverages from the Village Club who will also set up in the shelter!  Last year we had limbo brought to you by Donna's Hair Design & Heidi's Tips and Toes, the Chamber gave away free Lei's to the winners we are happy to announce this popular game will be returning for this year's enjoyment & just like last year, the other businesses in town have been invited to bring you other old fashioned games.
Community donation/sponsored fireworks display is again being organized & set up by the Arco Volunteer Fire Department, this years' fireworks show will start at 10:30 PM.  Donations/Sponsors are still needed to fund this community event, you can still donate to this cause at participating local business, by contacting one of your local fire fighters, or Tim Williams 390-6496 with money donations/sponsorship & questions.
We are so looking forward to our communities' increased participation in these events.  You do not need to be a chamber member or business to help with or volunteer for any of the LUAU games,  so please contact Clay Condit @ 208-541-3770 or  Melinda Shodin @ Absolute Therapy @ 208-541-7771 if you're interested in any level of LUAU participation.
All 3 organizations mentioned in this article are nonprofit organizations they are always welcoming your membership & participation.  We hope you take full advantage of our efforts to make this community a viable, fun, family friendly one and we can't wait to see you there!  Please do not forget to enter your float/vehicle with Rose Bernal @ the Bargain Barn, & prepay /order your meal @ ATC Communications (Before the 29th of June). **(Interested businesses can pick up their forms to join Butte County Chamber of Commerce at the Business Incubation Center front desk in Downtown Arco.  Meetings are held the 2nd wed. of each month at 8am for 1 hr. @ varying businesses TBA @
