Helping Small Towns Succeed: Pathways to Community Prosperity

Join us at the top of the Rockies in beautiful Leadville, Colorado, for Helping Small Towns Succeed: Pathways to Prosperity and Sustainability, on October 8-10, 2013.  This annual institute, initiated in 1992 with support of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, will be held this year with corporate support from Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold, and co-sponsorship by Colorado Mountain College and the City of Leadville.  This is your opportunity for hands-on learning of a framework for rural community vitality and back-home, practical applications that can be implemented immediately.

Organized by the Heartland Center for Leadership Development and the Center for Rural Entrepreneurship, this year's institute will focus on a nationally acclaimed small town development approach known as HomeTown Competitiveness (HTC), designed to make your hometown competitive in a fast-paced, global economic marketplace.  The HTC framework has been employed in 14 states nationwide and has been become known as a turn-around strategy for rural communities facing population and business decline.  It focuses on four inter-related priorities known as the HTC Pillars, which are designed to:
" Build Local Leadership
" Energize Entrepreneurship
" Engage Youth and Young Adults
" Expand Community Philanthropy
