Lost Rivers Community Review Begins Today September 25th

The Lost Rivers Community Review, a collaboration of the Idaho Rural Partnership and Lost River Economic Development with the assistance of may community and economic develop professionals gets underway today, Tuesday September 25th at 1:00 PM with a bus tour of the Lost River Valley for the visiting team and members of the home team.  The tour will reach from the Mackay Reservoir to Arco, and out toward Era and include the community of Moore.

After the tour the visitors will hold a listening session with the members of the home team, and interested business, community leaders and elected officials, beginning at 4:15 in the Mackay Elementary School multipurpose room.

After supper, the visitors will hold a listening session for any and all community members from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Mackay Elementary School multipurpose room.  If  you are not involved in the review in some other way, this is THE WAY for your views and concerns to be heard by the visitor.

The program will continue on Wednesday with listening session and focus groups in Mackay in the morning and similar sessions in the afternoon in Arco.  On Thursday, the visiting team will present their findings and suggestions at a meeting in the Arco School Auditorium at 7:00 PM.

Lost Rivers Medical Center wants to take over Atomic Days breakfast. Shelly Rupp is researching cheaper food options, keeping in mind we use John’s permits/licenses

After the review and survey results the team leaders and their teams will follow through with completion.

Atomic Days review

Over 300 people came to the breakfast it was a success
Booth count down, Jaci Hill, the new High School counselor and is excited to continue working with us.

It was discussed whether or not softball or horseshoes will be doing their own advertising from here on out since they have not contributed to the Chamber to help cover the cost of advertising.

Vendor complaints regarding John’s trailers impeding the flow of movement to the ones who are behind the shelter  we need to remedy this problem, discussion on moving vendors and making a map.

Metal Specialties is retiring from being in charge of the parade, we need a replacement.

Cindy Jardine’s  program was a success she would like to do it again next year

Cruise IN: Successful for the 1st year, needs more advertising and outreach to outside communities

Melinda had 2 families offer to help with Atomic Days next year  the Taylors and Leola Duke

Junior Achievement in 2 classrooms at the school

Dragonfly tarps  New business Matt Nelson owner, possibly invite him to come and speak.

Invited Robin Pearson to speak at a future meeting

Leadership training classes, Alan Shaffer, has agreed to run some classes this fall/winter.

Survey for Lost Rivers Community Review is Due

The Lost Rivers Community Review will be taking place September 23rd to 25th.  The review is a collaboration between the Idaho Rural Partnership (IRP) and its various sister economic development agencies and Lost River Economic Development to provide a valley-wide evaluation of our communities to improve economic development and sustainability.    One portion of the project is a valley-wide survey of residents concerning there evaluation of various aspects of the community.

The survey was mailed to households a couple of weeks ago and was due this week, but IRP will continue to accept surveys until Thursday, September 11th.  If you received a survey PLEASE complete and return it.

IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE A SURVEY, PLEASE CALL CANDICE AT 208-350-3717 OR THE  BUSINESS CENTER AT 527-3060 AND WE WILL TRY TO GET YOU ONE.  THEY CAN ALSO BE PICKED UP AT THE BUSINESS CENTER IN ARCO, THE LOST RIVER MEDICAL CENTER CLINIC IN ARCO AND AT CITY HALL IN MACKAY.
