Chamber Recognizes High School Seniors and Teacher

Arco, Idaho  May 18th, 2015. The Butte County Chamber of Commerce held their annual Senior High Recognition Luncheon on Monday, May 18th in the Arco Butte Business Incubation Center.  The Chamber recognized graduating seniors Kent Cummins, Jon Isham, Darla Maddalena, and Mariah Ruth for outstanding academic performance during their career at Butte High.  The recipients  all maintained a 4.0 grade point average for their entire career.
               
Each of the students were asked to share what they enjoyed about high school and what their plans were for the near future. Cummins had enjoyed sports and was going to pursue a degree in biochemistry on the way to work in medicine.  Isham had also enjoyed sports and was planning a college career.  Maddelena had enjoyed volleyball in school and was planning to attend CSI to study marketing.  Ruth was planning to attend ISU and study biology.
The Faculty were asked to identify the graduating senior whom they felt had made the greatest improvement in their academic performance.  The faculty selected Forest Jensen.  Jensen was planning to attend ISU and pursue a career in coaching
The Student Council was asked to identify the “2015 Teacher and Wise Mentor of the Year”.  The Council selected Kirstine Keetch, who teach mathematics. Ms. Keetch said that she had really enjoyed Arco, and that she is “going to miss her seniors.”
Certificates were presented at the luncheon.  Plaques will be given to the recipients as soon as Hot Ink Screen Printing can get them made.  Plaques are sponsored by the Butte County Chamber of Commerce.  Lunch was pulled pork, homemade coleslaw, chips and homemade brownies, sponsored by Jacks Travel Plaza.
